Aditya Roy Kapur dismisses reports of opting out of Mohit Suri’s film
Recent rumours that Aditya Roy Kapur was in talks for a new film with director Mohit Suri — and had later walked away — have been firmly denied. Sources close to the actor say the stories were based on incorrect assumptions and that no casting discussions ever took place.
“No talks, only cricket” — the actor responds
A source close to Aditya clarified, “A lot has been written about Aditya being in talks for Mohit’s film, but the truth is far simpler — there were no discussions or casting offers made. So, the question of him opting out doesn’t arise.”
Aditya himself responded with a smile when contacted: “The report isn’t true. Mohit and I have only been meeting to play cricket, not to discuss a film!” The light-hearted reply has effectively put the speculation to rest for now.
How the rumour started
The story gained traction after reports suggested an untitled project was in development with Mohit Suri directing and Aditya being considered as the leading man. According to those earlier reports, the screenplay was still being written and casting decisions were expected at a later stage. But insiders now say there were no formal talks, and the headlines were premature.
Why fans were excited
A possible Mohit Suri–Aditya Roy Kapur reunion naturally created interest. The pair previously delivered emotional and intense work together:
- Aashiqui 2 (2013) — the romantic blockbuster that became a cultural phenomenon for its music and performances.
- Malang (2020) — showcased Aditya in a darker, more intense avatar and was noted for its brooding tone and memorable moments.
Mohit Suri’s recent success
Mohit’s latest film, Saiyaara, turned into a record-breaking success and introduced audiences to Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. The film’s fresh pairing and buzzworthy chemistry kept Suri in the spotlight, which likely fuelled speculation about his next directorial choice.
What this means going forward
For now, fans should treat reports of Aditya “opting out” as unfounded. There are no confirmed casting talks between the actor and Mohit Suri at this stage. That said, given their strong working history, a future collaboration can’t be ruled out — but any official announcements will have to come from the makers themselves.
