The makers of Border 2 are taking their promotions to the frontlines — literally. After two memorable song launches earlier this month, the team is set to visit the Karwar Naval Base in Karnataka on Wednesday, January 14, for a special event that honors the Indian Navy and showcases music from the film.
Why Karwar Naval Base?
The decision to host an event at Karwar is tied to the film’s naval storyline. A source tells Bollywood Hungama that the base is a significant naval hub where INS Vikrant — The Indian Warship is stationed. With Ahan Shetty playing a brave naval officer in the film, the makers felt a naval base was the right place to celebrate the film’s spirit and pay tribute to servicemen and women.
What the event will feature
- Meet-and-greet with officers and sailors of the Indian Navy.
- A special tribute to the forces from the cast and crew.
- Live presentation of songs from Border 2, adding a musical touch to the celebration.
As the source put it, “The cast and crew will meet the officers and sailors and have a celebratory interaction. The team will hold a special tribute and showcase the songs of the film.”
Promotions with a defence connect
Border 2’s promotional strategy has repeatedly reached out to India’s defence community. The first song, “Ghar Kab Aaoge”, was launched on January 2 at Longewala-Tanot near Jaisalmer in front of hundreds of army officers and their families — a fitting venue given the film’s military backdrop. The second song, “Jaate Hue Lamhon”, debuted on January 13 at the United Services Club inside Mumbai’s naval residential cantonment.
Those events were emotional and memorable. At the “Jaate Hue Lamhon” launch, veteran singer Roop Kumar Rathod and actor Suniel Shetty were moved to tears while celebrating Ahan’s comeback, highlighting the personal stakes behind the film’s promotions.
The cast, crew and release
Border 2 brings together a high-voltage ensemble including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J P Dutta and Nidhi Dutta, and is directed by Anurag Singh.
Border 2 is due in cinemas on January 23, and these defence-linked promotions are clearly designed to underline the film’s patriotic tone while creating authentic, emotional moments ahead of the release.
What to watch for next
Expect more events and appearances as January 23 approaches. With song launches already creating buzz and a carefully curated connection to the armed forces, Border 2’s team seems determined to make the film’s release an event rather than just another premiere.
