Aahana S Kumra returns to the big screen with Putul
After making waves in the reality space with Rise And Fall, Aahana S Kumra is back with Putul, a children’s film that explores a turbulent marriage through the eyes of a child. The movie also features Purab Kohli and Rajat Kapoor, and marks a thoughtful, sensitive take on how adult relationships shape a child’s world.
About the story
In Putul, Aahana plays Megha, the working mother of a six-year-old girl named Putul, who is navigating a difficult marriage and considering divorce. The film examines the emotional impact of marital strife on children and focuses on relationships from a child’s point of view.

Filming memories: Dehradun
Aahana recalls shooting the film about two years ago in Dehradun. “I shot for this project about two years ago in Dehradun and had a wonderful time. We shot around the beginning of the year, and the weather was lovely,” she says. She spent nearly a month there and has fond ties to the city—annual trips with her sister have made Dehradun an integral part of her life.
Festival run and audience response
Putul was screened at the Jagran Film Festival, which Aahana calls an ideal platform for indie cinema. The film played in Meerut—her mother’s hometown—where it enjoyed a full house and a warm response. “We had a houseful screening, and the turnout was lovely. I was also pleasantly surprised by how the film turned out,” she shared.
Why the film matters
Aahana believes Putul is important because it looks at adult problems from a child’s perspective. The Jagran Film Festival’s focus on connecting films with the right audience made it a fitting venue for this quieter, relationship-driven story.
With thoughtful performances and a sensitive directorial approach, Putul promises to be a poignant addition to Aahana’s growing filmography as she moves between mainstream, indie, and reality formats.
