Karisma Kapoor renews lease on Bandra West apartment amid estate dispute
Karisma Kapoor has quietly renewed the lease on her plush Bandra West home even as a high-profile legal battle over her late ex-husband Sunjay Kapur’s estate plays out in court. The actress’s apartment in the Grand Bay Condominium on Hill Road remains rented out, with fresh paperwork signed and registered recently.

- Stamp duty and registration: Rs 17,100 and Rs 1,000 respectively

The previous lease, signed in November 2023, had a stepped rent — Rs 5 lakhs per month in the first year and Rs 5.25 lakhs in the second — which worked out to about Rs 1.23 crore over two years.
Background: the ongoing estate fight
The lease news comes against the backdrop of a bitter legal dispute over Sunjay Kapur’s estate, estimated to be worth up to Rs 30,000 crores. After Sunjay’s death in London this June following a polo match, his children Samaira Kapur and Kiaan Raj Kapur have been at odds with his widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur, over the validity and contents of his will.
Recent courtroom exchanges
In recent hearings, Karisma’s camp argued that Samaira’s university fees were unpaid due to estate managers not clearing them. Priya pushed back strongly in court, producing receipts to show the fees — reportedly Rs 95 lakhs per semester — had been paid, with the next instalment only due in December, her lawyer Sheyl Trehan said.
Priya’s legal team, led by senior advocate Rajiv Nayar, has also denied allegations that the will was forged or altered to exclude Sunjay’s children, calling such claims baseless and pointing out that it is not uncommon for a husband to leave his assets to his wife.
What’s next
Both sides continue to present evidence, receipts and arguments before the Delhi High Court as the case progresses. Meanwhile, Karisma appears to be keeping her personal affairs steady, opting to renew the lease on a high-end Bandra property while the legal drama unfolds.
