Anurag Kashyap’s neo-noir thriller Kennedy has scored a rare international win: it is the only Indian film chosen for the inaugural lineup of Letterboxd’s first-ever Video Store. The selection brings the buzzed-about Cannes premiere to a wider global audience when the platform launches on December 10.
Letterboxd Video Store: what to expect
Letterboxd’s Video Store will follow a transactional video‑on‑demand (TVOD) model, letting viewers rent films without a subscription. At launch the service will be available across 23 countries and focus on festival favourites and acclaimed films that haven’t been widely accessible. Kennedy is one of nine hand‑picked titles in the debut roster.
About Kennedy
Produced by Ranjan Singh, Good Bad Films and Zee Studios, Kennedy stars Rahul Bhatt and Sunny Leone. Shot mostly at night across Mumbai in a tight 30‑day schedule, the film follows an insomniac former cop — presumed dead — who continues to operate inside a corrupt system while seeking redemption. Its moody visuals and uncompromising narrative made it one of the most talked‑about Indian entries on the global festival circuit after its 2023 Cannes premiere.

Reactions from the team
Anurag Kashyap said, “I am happy that finally the film will be available for the general audience to watch in some parts of the world. It’s one of my most personal films and would love to get the audience feedback and reaction, and I am thankful to Letterboxd for putting it on their new platform. And I am, hopeful that we’ll soon be able to release it in India too as the producers are working on it.”
Producer Ranjan Singh called the inclusion “a momentous milestone,” adding that after traveling to almost 30 festivals the team is proud to be the only Indian film in the line‑up. Umesh Bansal, Chief Business Officer at Zee Studios, said he was “extremely elated” about the overseas response. Sophie Shi of EST N8, which facilitated the release, said the film fits their mission to elevate bold Asian storytelling globally.
