Actor Celina Jaitly’s legal team has confirmed that she has filed a domestic violence complaint against her husband, Austrian national Peter Haag. The case was presented before the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Andheri, Mumbai, and taken up on Tuesday for verification. The court has issued a notice to Haag, returnable on December 12.
What the complaint alleges
Advocate Niharika Karanjawala, appearing for Jaitly, said the filing lays out years of alleged abuse. According to the complaint, the abuse includes:
- Prolonged physical and emotional cruelty over many years of the marriage
- Manipulation and coercion, including how certain decisions and documents were obtained
- An alleged coercive transfer of a gift deed for a property Jaitly owns in Mumbai — a matter now also tied up in separate civil proceedings
Relief sought by Celina Jaitly
The petition requests multiple forms of relief. Key claims include:
- Monthly maintenance: Rs 10 lakh
- Compensation for loss of potential earnings: Rs 50 crore, reportedly for a period when Jaitly had to stop working at a crucial time in her career
- Compensation for pain and suffering: another Rs 50 crore
- Alimony, broader compensation, and legal determinations concerning the couple’s three children
Jaitly’s primary concern, her lawyer said, is the children — who are currently in Austria with Haag.
Next steps in court
The court issued a notice to Peter Haag; the matter is listed to be heard again on December 12. Separate civil proceedings related to the Mumbai property are continuing alongside the domestic violence case.
Celina has also shared an emotional note since filing the complaint, writing that at times she felt her “life stripped everything away.” The case will be closely watched as it returns to court next month.
