Last-minute cancellation: Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 re-release called off
Fans who were planning to catch Kapil Sharma’s comedy Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 on the big screen on Friday, January 9, were left disappointed when the film’s planned re-release was cancelled at the eleventh hour. The decision came on the evening of Thursday, January 8, leaving eager moviegoers and exhibitors surprised.
Why the re-release didn’t happen
A source told Bollywood Hungama that Star Studio18, the studio partner and distributor, had initially promised a 500-screen re-release. In the end, they could secure only around 200–250 screens, and many of the available shows were scheduled at odd times. The film’s producers, Venus, were not happy with this limited and inconvenient rollout and decided against going ahead with the re-release.
Originally released on December 12, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 had been pulled from many theatres when other holdover films such as Dhurandhar and Avatar: Fire And Ash dominated screens. Venus had hoped for a stronger second run once those holdovers slowed down, but the screen count and timings offered did not meet their expectations.
Industry reaction and future possibilities
An industry expert noted that it remains to be seen whether the film will be re-released at a later date. The expert pointed out that Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 has genuinely connected with audiences and is one of the rare recent comedies that generated plenty of laughs in cinemas. There is hope within trade circles that the film will get another chance to reach a wider theatrical audience under better conditions.
What audiences liked about the film
Despite its short theatrical run, the film earned praise for its comic timing and performances. Viewers appreciated the laugh-out-loud moments and the light-hearted approach, which helped the movie stand out amid a crowded release calendar of bigger titles.
