Ranbir Kapoor wants Love And War ready by March, aims for June 2026 release
Ranbir Kapoor — one of the biggest stars of the modern generation — is managing a blockbuster-heavy calendar. After Animal, he has Love And War with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, followed by Ramayana, Ramayana 2 and Animal Park. While the two-part Ramayana is locked for Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027, the release timing for Love And War has been uncertain.
Why Ranbir is pushing for June
Reliable trade sources tell Bollywood Hungama that Ranbir has asked SLB and the team to wrap Love And War by March 2026. He wants at least a four-month gap between Love And War and Ramayana, and since Ramayana’s Diwali 2026 date is fixed, Ranbir has requested that Love And War hit theatres by June 2026 at the latest.
SLB prefers August, producer presses for June
Sources say Sanjay Leela Bhansali is keen on an August release to coincide with Independence Day festivities. But Ranbir — backed by producer Namit Malhotra — feels that a June slot is safer so the box-office aftermath of Love And War doesn’t affect Ramayana, which is a far bigger project. The team around Ranbir is reportedly pressing SLB to accommodate the June window.
What to expect next
- Ranbir’s priority: finish principal work on Love And War by March 2026.
- Target release: June 2026 (SLB favoring August currently).
- Ramayana remains on track for Diwali 2026, with its sequel slated for Diwali 2027.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is expected to take a final call soon and announce the official release date. Meanwhile, fans will be watching closely as Ranbir balances back-to-back megaprojects.
