Shoot of Shraddha Kapoor’s much-anticipated biopic Eetha has been paused after the actress hurt herself while filming an intense Lavani number. The injury happened during a physically demanding dance sequence that was meant to capture the stage power of folk legend Vithabai Narayangaonkar, whom Shraddha plays.
What happened on set
Sources say the choreography called for rapid, consecutive steps timed to Ajay–Atul’s high-energy score. Shraddha was performing in a vibrant Nauvari saree, heavy jewellery and a kamarpatta when she missed a step, shifted her weight onto her left foot, lost balance and injured herself. For authenticity, she had also put on more than 15 kilos to portray a younger Vithabai.
Immediate production changes
Director Laxman Utekar halted the Nashik schedule as a precaution. Shraddha suggested the team shoot close-ups on a different set to keep some days productive, so the unit moved to Madh Island where she filmed several emotional scenes. When the pain worsened, the makers decided to stop again. The plan now is to resume after a two-week recovery break.
Cast and next schedule
Randeep Hooda has reportedly been signed as the male lead opposite Shraddha. The next phase of filming is expected to start later this month in Mumbai, with the team confident about the pairing and how it fits Utekar’s vision.
