Diljit Dosanjh confirms second film with Imtiaz Ali via behind-the-scenes vlog
Diljit Dosanjh has quietly confirmed his second collaboration with filmmaker Imtiaz Ali. The Punjabi star shared a behind-the-scenes vlog from his current shoot in Punjab, giving fans a rare, informal look at life on set and revealing that Imtiaz is directing his next, currently untitled, project.
Early mornings and on-set moments
The short video opens early — Diljit starts his day at 4:30 am, fits in a workout, and has a simple breakfast of fruits and protein before heading to the location. The clip shows him filming against a green screen and enjoying warm, easy exchanges with Imtiaz, then returning to a scenic haveli where he’s staying during the shoot.
Reuniting after Amar Singh Chamkila
This marks the reunion of the duo following their widely praised film Amar Singh Chamkila. That project brought Diljit major acclaim for his portrayal and helped spotlight Punjabi stories on an international stage.
Why Chamkila still matters
Amar Singh Chamkila was based on the life of the iconic Punjabi musician known as the “Elvis of Punjab.” The film also featured Parineeti Chopra as Amarjot, Chamkila’s wife. Chamkila’s electrifying performances, daring lyrics and tragic assassination in 1988 remain deeply resonant in Punjabi music and culture. The film earned two International Emmy nominations — including Best Actor for Diljit and Best TV Movie/Mini-Series — underscoring the global interest in the story, even though it did not win.
What’s next for Diljit
Alongside this untitled Imtiaz Ali project, Diljit is also part of the big-budget war drama Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh and produced by T-Series and J.P. Films. The sequel to J.P. Dutta’s 1997 classic features Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty and Diljit in key roles and is scheduled to release on January 23, 2026.
For now, fans can enjoy the candid glimpse Diljit shared on Instagram — a mix of disciplined routine, creative moments with Imtiaz, and the quiet charm of life on a Punjabi set.
